is sooooo much fun!

It is official.  I am addicted to Facebook!

Never really got the point of Twitter, but I am loving Facebook.  I have found so many of my "lost" friends and it is so cool!

Can you tell that I am excited?!?  I just reconnected with the third (and final) part of my best friend group from the "big city" and it is great.  So maybe I will skip the class reunion up here and and travel back home for a long awaited reunion...who knows?

Preparations

This weekend is MusicFest in Fremont and I am currently elbow deep in lotion.  Well, not right this minute but there is a ton of it downstairs getting thick enough for me to fill the bottles!

I have spent the bulk of the day getting some products ready, cleaning my house (this is a never-ending job as any stay-at-home mother knows!) and trying to uphold some level of sanity around here.

I made two batches of soap today...more Peppermint Perfection (best seller) and some Lemongrass-Sage.  I made three batches of Cotton Blossom-type lotion, two batches of Lily Of The Valley lotion and two batches of Butterfly Orchid lotion.

I swept and mopped the kitchen, did some tidying up and reorganizing in the kitchen.  I did two loads of laundry and taught the little princess how to hang up her own clothes (she is such a good little helper!).  We ended up with enough pizza left over from last night...so I didn't have to cook dinner tonight!

Now to go finish filling those lotion bottles and get to bed...I have to start all over tomorrow!

Defense

>> Tuesday, July 7, 2009

The best defense is a good offense!

We went through the book of Psalm not that long ago in our Wednesday night Bible study.  This is one of those verses that we should remember at all times...but especially when we are feeling the need to defend ourselves against some attack.

See there is one thing that I have noticed when dealing with people.  Anytime I try to defend myself to someone else...they take it as an offense to them.  I can not explain why I do not participate in an activity that they do without offending them.  They think that I think that I am better than them...which of course I do not...but they are instantly put on the defensive then and the fight is on.

So I am better off to step back from the situation and say you know what...they can think, act or feel whatever they want to because eventually the Lord will defend me and his defense is complete.

Look upon my suffering and deliver me,
for I have not forgotten your law.
Defend my cause and redeem me;
preserve my life according to your promise.
Salvation is far from the wicked,
for they do not seek out your decrees.
Psalm 119:153-155

Tuesday - Chicken salad sandwiches (homemade bread), fresh veggies

Wednesday - Spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad

Thursday - Roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, peas and bread

Friday - leftovers (be at the festival!)

Breakfasts will be simple...cereal, pancakes and waffles.  Lunches will be leftovers and peanut butter sandwiches.  Desserts will be varied throughout the week and will include things that I want to make for farmers' market!  I will post about them throughout the week...if they are good that is!

Great Discoveries

>> Friday, July 3, 2009

I guess that the term great is entirely subjective depending upon who you are talking to and what you are talking about.  Today I rediscovered a wonderful adventure while strolling around holding my six-year old daughter's hand.

It started when my husband discovered a "new" black raspberry bush.  All four of us had to go out and pick the paltry harvest (a total of about 10 berries) for a quick snack that my husband and daughter enjoyed immensely.  Since my son and I are not quite as enthusiastic about the seeds that come with the tasty berries...there wasn't a struggle over the berries.

What followed that was so simple and sweet that it can only be called great.  I took my daughter to make a great discovery.  See she is a bit of a drama queen...she gets highly upset when people pick at her...but then she shows great enthusiasm over some of the smallest things.  The latter was the case with her today.

I grabbed her hand and told her we were going to see something that I recently "discovered"...a mulberry tree that we had never picked off of before.  She didn't know what we would find, but she was so excited.  Jumping and skipping the entire way.  Then we drew nearer to the discovery...she thought it must be another black raspberry bush...so she was looking down at the ground.  Then she looked up and her eyes got as big as saucers.  She yelled out "more berries!".  So I grabbed as many of the ripe ones as I could for her and she went to show her favorite people the "great discovery" of the day.

This whole thing took about 20 minutes...on a day when I am normally scrambling to get work done for the following day's market...and it was absolutely wonderful!  My daughter's great discovery was a handful of mulberries...while mine was an amazing stroll with a pretty incredible little person.  We all need a reminder to take the time to enjoy our little ones while they are still little.  I am so glad that my husband interrupted my terribly important schedule today so that I could enjoy this!
